Eligibility
- All posts are Group B in Pay Level-6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) of the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix.
- Requirements differ by organisation. Some accept a three-year diploma on its own; others require a degree, or a diploma backed by two years of relevant working experience.
- The qualification must be held as on the closing date of the online application form.
- An addendum dated 10 September 2026 revised the essential qualification for Scientific Assistant in the India Meteorological Department — read it alongside the main notice.
- Candidates holding the computer or electronics degrees listed for the IMD post must also have passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics.
- The examination has two papers, both computer based.
How to Apply
- Complete One-Time Registration on ssc.gov.in. An OTR created on the old ssc.nic.in site will not work.
- Log in and open the Junior Engineer Examination 2026 form, on the website or through the mySSC app.
- Check the post table in the notice before choosing — the qualification and age limit depend on which organisation the post belongs to.
- If you are applying for Scientific Assistant in IMD, read the 10 September addendum, not just the original notice.
- Pay the ₹100 fee unless exempt. Payment closes a day after the form, on 23 September.
- Preview and print the submitted form. Corrections are possible from 28 to 30 September at the Commission's correction charges.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a three-year diploma enough for SSC JE 2026?
It depends on the organisation. The Brahmaputra Board, CPWD and CWPRS accept a diploma on its own. The Border Roads Organisation and DGQA-Naval want either a degree, or a three-year diploma plus two years of relevant experience. Check the post table for the organisation you are applying to.
What is the age limit?
Up to 30 years for most organisations, and up to 32 years for CPWD posts. The limit is fixed per organisation, so read the entry for your post.
What changed in the addendum?
