Eligibility

  • The 1,936 vacancies were requisitioned by the Director of Higher Education, Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj, for non-government aided colleges. The number may go up or down.
  • Pay is Level-10 of the pay matrix, ₹57,700 to ₹1,82,400.
  • For Hindi, English, Economics, Sociology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Commerce, Botany, History, Philosophy, Zoology, Psychology, Political Science, Education, Sanskrit, Home Science, Geography, Physical Education, Military Science, Law, Statistics, Geology, Urdu, Ancient History, Asian Culture and the agriculture subjects named in the advertisement, the qualification is either route A or route B below.
  • Route A: a master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 55 per cent marks (or an equivalent grade) from an Indian university, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university — plus NET conducted by UGC or CSIR, or a UGC-accredited SLET/SET.
  • Under route A, candidates awarded a Ph.D. under the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for M.Phil./Ph.D.) Regulations 2009 or 2016 are exempt from NET/SLET/SET. Ph.D. holders registered before 11 July 2009 are exempt only if the degree was awarded in regular mode, evaluated by at least two external examiners, with an open viva, two research papers published (one in a refereed journal) and two papers presented at UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored conferences, as certified by the university.

  • NET/SLET/SET is not required in disciplines for which UGC or CSIR do not conduct such a test.
  • Drawing and Painting, Music (vocal and instrumental), Sitar and Tabla have their own rules: the same 55 per cent master's plus NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D. route, or alternatively a graduate who is a traditional or professional artist of highly commendable standing in the discipline — for example, trained under a noted ustad or artist, or an 'A' grade artist of Akashvani/Doordarshan.
  • Read section 7 of the advertisement for the exact qualification for your subject before applying.
  • All essential qualifications must be held by the last date of application.
  • Reservation — vertical for SC, ST, OBC and EWS, horizontal for women, Divyangjan and dependants of freedom fighters — is subject-wise as requisitioned, and listed in Table 01. Candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh cannot claim reservation benefits.
  • Selection is on a 360-mark written examination followed by a 40-mark interview.
  • The written paper has 120 multiple-choice questions — 30 on general knowledge and 90 on the subject — to be answered in two hours on an OMR sheet with a black ballpoint pen.
  • Each correct answer gets 3 marks and each wrong or multiple answer loses 1 mark.
  • The syllabus for the written examination is on the Commission's website.
