ISRO IPRC Recruitment 2026 — 22 Posts for Technical Assistant, Technician, Cook and Fireman

Short Information

ISRO's Propulsion Complex at Mahendragiri in Tirunelveli district has advertised 22 posts under Advertisement No. IPRC/RMT/2026/01 — Technical Assistant on Level 7, nine trades of Technician 'B' on Level 3, one Cook 'A' and three Fireman 'A' on Level 2. The window is short and precise: applications open at 10:00 on 15 September 2026 and close at 16:00 on 5 October 2026. Two things decide more applications than the qualification does. The fee is refunded only if you actually sit the written test, so the bank passbook page you upload matters. And Fireman carries its own age bar of 18 to 25 years — ten years tighter than every other post here — plus 6/6 distant vision in each eye without glasses.

Eligibility

• IPRC is the ISRO unit responsible for liquid propulsion — research and development of propulsion systems, assembly, integration and testing of engines and stages, high altitude testing of upper stage engines and spacecraft thrusters, and production of propellants.
• The advertisement states plainly that the responsibility to meet the eligibility criteria rests solely with the applicant, so read the full advertisement before applying.
• Pay: Technical Assistant is Level 7 of the pay matrix, ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400. Technician 'B' is Level 3, ₹21,700 to ₹69,100. Cook 'A' and Fireman 'A' are Level 2, ₹19,900 to ₹63,200.
• Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance are paid at the rates in force at the place of posting, to those not availing departmental housing and transport.
• Employees are governed by the National Pension System. Contributory Health Service Scheme medical cover for self and dependants, subsidised canteen, transport facility in lieu of Transport Allowance, limited departmental housing in lieu of HRA, Leave Travel Concession and House Building Advance are also provided as per government orders.
• Selection for Post Codes 60 to 68 and 70 is by Written Test plus a curriculum-based Skill Test.
• Selection for Fireman 'A' is by Written Test, a Skill Test in the form of a Physical Efficiency Test, and a Detailed Medical Examination.
• The final selection is based on the scores obtained in the Written Test.
• Fireman physical standards — minimum height 165 cm for General category men, 160 cm for Gorkhas, hill tribes, SC and ST men, and 155 cm for women and transgender candidates.
• Fireman minimum weight — 50 kg, 46 kg and 43 kg for those three groups respectively.
• Fireman chest — minimum 81 cm on expiration and 86 cm on inspiration for General category men; 76 cm and 81 cm for the second group; not applicable for women and transgender candidates. Minimum chest expansion is 5 cm for all.
• Fireman distant vision must be 6/6 in each eye without glasses or any other aid.
• For Cook 'A', the experience certificate must be issued by a well established hotel or canteen and produced at the Skill Test. A certificate from an individual will not be accepted.
• All further communication is sent by e-mail only, so the address given at registration must be one you monitor.
• Photographs with inappropriate or obscene images, casual photographs and selfies are rejected, and image filenames must not contain blank spaces, special characters or numbers.
• Fireman applicants must upload the Preliminary Medical Examination certificate with the online application and produce it again at the Skill Test. It has to be issued by a Government Medical Officer (Allopathy) not below the rank of Assistant Civil Surgeon employed in Government Health Services, and it is valid for six months.
• Only Fireman applicants who uploaded the PME certificate and meet the physical fitness standards are called for the Skill Test.
• A long list of conditions disqualifies a Fireman applicant outright, among them knock knee, bow legs, flat foot, night or colour blindness, squint, monocular vision, glaucoma, an implanted pacemaker, blood pressure above 140/90 with target organ damage, haemoglobin below 10 gm per cent, random blood sugar above 180 mg/dl, hernia, hydrocele, haemorrhoids, varicose veins, ischemic and other heart disease, seizure disorders, malignancy, thyrotoxicosis, diabetes with vascular complications, and bronchial asthma or COPD.
• Fireman candidates who qualify the written test and meet the PME norms are shortlisted for the Skill Test in a 1:50 ratio. The Skill Test is purely qualifying.
• The Physical Efficiency Test runs in two stages — Stage 1 is a run, and only those who clear it go on to Stage 2. Clearing Stage 2 leads to the Detailed Medical Examination.
• PET Stage 1 — 1500 metres run in 7 minutes for men up to 40 and 8 minutes for men above 40; 800 metres run in 4 minutes for women and transgender candidates up to 40 and 5 minutes above 40.
• PET Stage 2, rope climbing using only the hands — 5 metres from ground level for men up to 40, 4.5 metres for women and transgender candidates up to 40 and for men above 40, and 4 metres for women and transgender candidates above 40.
• PET Stage 2, carrying a human dummy by the fireman lift (60 kg for men, 50 kg for women and transgender candidates) over 25 metres — in 60, 75, 75 and 90 seconds respectively for those four groups.
• PET Stage 2, long jump — 3.8 metres, 3.5 metres, 3.5 metres and 3.2 metres for the same four groups.
• PET Stage 2, 100 metres run — 15, 17, 17 and 19 seconds for the same four groups. Shoes with spikes are not allowed in any of the running events.
• Three attempts are allowed in the long jump, with the best of the three counting. Every other event allows one attempt only, and failing any single event ends the process there.
• The PET is undertaken at the applicant own risk and volition. No compensation is payable for any injury, disability or death arising from it, and a declaration to that effect must be submitted at the Skill Test.
• Fireman candidates who clear the Detailed Medical Examination are empanelled in the order of their written test marks.
• A candidate selected as Fireman must mandatorily stay in the Essential Staff Quarters at IPRC.
• The prescribed qualifications are a minimum requirement and do not by themselves make an applicant eligible for selection.
• Eligibility criteria, selection method, reservation and relaxation are all subject to revision in line with Government of India, Department of Space and ISRO orders issued from time to time.

How to Apply

1. Open the Careers page of the IPRC website at www.iprc.gov.in between 10:00 hrs on 15 September 2026 and 16:00 hrs on 5 October 2026.
2. Read the full advertisement first — eligibility, reservation and functional requirements differ by post code.
3. Applications are received online only. Physical applications, e-mails, biodata, resumes and CVs are not entertained.
4. Submit the online application. Applicants registered on the National Career Services portal and meeting the eligibility may also apply.
5. If you are applying for Fireman 'A', upload the Preliminary Medical Examination Certificate in the format at Annexure A along with the online application.
6. Upload the scanned certificates and mark sheets the advertisement lists for your post, including proof of previous experience where it applies.
7. Upload the front page of your bank passbook, and enter the account holder name, account number, bank, branch and IFSC code correctly — this is what the fee refund is paid into, and IPRC will not be held responsible for an incorrect entry.
8. Pay the fee through the SBI e-Payment gateway, either immediately using the PAY button or on any day before 5 October 2026.
9. Do not press refresh or back during payment, or the session aborts.
10. Confirm the payment succeeded using the Receipt link on the ISRO website — the advertisement makes this check mandatory.
11. Sit the written test when called. The fee is refunded only to candidates who actually appear for it; there is no refund in any other circumstance.
12. If you are employed under a central or state government, a public sector undertaking, an autonomous body or a private organisation under direct government control, apply only with intimation to and prior permission of your employer, and carry the No Objection Certificate in original to the Skill Test. Without it you are not allowed to sit the test and no travelling allowance is paid.
