MP Police Subedar Stenographer & ASI Recruitment 2026 — 655 Posts, Apply from 24 September

Short Information

MP Police is directly recruiting 655 posts of Subedar Stenographer and Assistant Sub-Inspector across six post codes — general branch, special branch, field (district) units and the Crime Investigation Department. Every post, in either cadre, needs the same core combination: Higher Secondary (10+2) plus a computer qualification (CPCT, DOEACC diploma, COPA, polytechnic diploma or an equivalent), and the Stenographer post additionally needs 100 words-per-minute Hindi shorthand. Whoever is selected must serve at least 5 years in their assigned unit before becoming eligible for a transfer, and no one is posted to their home district.

Eligibility

• Under Police Headquarters order GOP 150/2022, both men and women may apply.
• Subedar Stenographer: Higher Secondary (old scheme) or Higher Secondary School Certificate (10+2); Hindi shorthand at 100 words per minute from an MP-recognised council/board/polytechnic/ITI; a CPCT certificate with Hindi typing (mandatory); and a computer qualification — DOEACC diploma, one-year COPA certificate from a government ITI, a modern office management course, or a computer diploma from a UGC-recognised university.
• Assistant Sub-Inspector: 10+2 pass plus one of — engineering degree/MCA/BCA/MSc (Computer Science/IT), an AICTE-approved polytechnic diploma, a DOEACC diploma, a one-year COPA certificate from a government ITI, a modern office management course, or a UGC-recognised computer diploma.
• Candidates who are not permanent residents (domicile) of Madhya Pradesh may apply only against unreserved Open posts, with no reservation and no age relaxation; their upper age limit is 33 years as on 08/10/2026, same as MP unreserved male candidates.
• Whichever unit a candidate is posted to, they must complete at least 5 years of service there before becoming eligible for transfer to another unit, such as Police Headquarters branches or a district Police Superintendent's office.
• Selected candidates are not posted in their home district (Police Headquarters, Madhya Pradesh, is the only exception).
• Age relaxation up to 5 years is available for Vikram Award winners, and for the higher-caste spouse in a state-recognised inter-caste marriage, among other categories listed in the rulebook.
• Aadhaar registration is compulsory, with multi-level biometric verification at entry and during the examination.
• Eligibility checked at the application stage is entirely provisional — document verification happens later, during the second stage, conducted by the Police Department.

How to Apply

1. Apply online only through the MPOnline portal, from 24 September to 8 October 2026.
2. Pay the board examination fee (₹500 unreserved, ₹250 for SC/ST/OBC/EWS residents of MP) plus the departmental exam fee (₹200 unreserved, ₹100 for SC/ST/OBC/EWS MP residents), and the MPOnline portal charge (₹60 kiosk, ₹20 registered login).
3. The correction window runs from 24 September to 13 October 2026 — nothing can be changed after that.
4. Stage 1 is a computer-based written exam beginning 3 November 2026, in two shifts (morning 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, afternoon 3:00-5:00 PM), with Aadhaar-based biometric verification and a mandatory original photo ID at entry.
5. Candidates who clear Stage 1 go through Stage 2 — document verification and a practical/skill test conducted by the Police Department, for which no certificate is checked by the Board itself at the application stage.
