Railway RRB Junior Engineer & DMS (CEN 04/2026) — Applications Close 13 September
Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) · Post Date: · Updated:
Applications open — last date 13/09/2026
Short Information
The Railway Recruitment Boards are recruiting Junior Engineers, Depot Material Superintendents and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistants under CEN 04/2026, all at Pay Level-6. Applications close on 13 September 2026 at 11:59 PM, though the fee can be paid until 15 September. Eligibility
- Every post in this CEN sits at Pay Level-6 — there is only one pay level in CEN 04/2026.
- You must hold the educational or technical qualification on or before 13 September 2026. Candidates awaiting a final result are not eligible, which is stricter than several other recruitments.
- A three-year diploma is required. A two-year diploma is not accepted. A B.E or B.Tech in the same discipline is accepted in place of the diploma.
- You may apply to one RRB only. Applying to more than one, or filing multiple applications to the same RRB, results in all applications being rejected and debarment from every future RRB and RRC examination.
- The chosen RRB cannot be changed after submission, and details entered in the 'Create an Account' stage can never be edited.
- SC, ST, OBC-NCL and EWS status is reckoned as on the closing date, 13 September 2026.
- SC and ST candidates who opt in can claim a free sleeper-class railway pass, issued with the city intimation slip.
How to Apply
- Go to rrbapply.gov.in. If you created an account for any RRB notification in 2024, 2025 or 2026, log in with it — do not create a second account.
- New applicants create an account with an active mobile number and personal email. Take care: these details are locked once the account exists.
- Verify your identity through DigiLocker or Aadhaar. Using an alternate photo ID is allowed but the notice warns it brings significantly stricter scrutiny at every stage.
- Choose your RRB carefully — it cannot be changed later, and applying to a second one gets both applications rejected.
- Complete the five sections: personal details, other details, educational qualification, profile documents, then preview and submit.
- Pay the fee after submitting. Payment is what completes the application, and it stays open until 15 September.
- If you spot a mistake afterwards, the modification window runs 16 to 25 September at ₹250 per occasion.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply to more than one RRB to improve my chances?
No, and it backfires badly. The official FAQ states that applying to more than one RRB results in the rejection of all your applications and debarment from every future RRB and RRC examination. The same applies to multiple applications to a single RRB.
My final result is expected after 13 September. Can I still apply?
No. The FAQ is explicit that candidates waiting for the final result of the prescribed qualification are not eligible. You must possess it on or before the closing date.
I have a B.Tech, not a diploma. Am I eligible for Junior Engineer?
Yes. A B.E or B.Tech is accepted in place of the three-year diploma in the same discipline. A two-year diploma is not accepted.
I made a mistake in my form. Can I fix it?
Anything outside the 'Create an Account' fields can be edited during the modification window from 16 to 25 September, at ₹250 per occasion. Details entered while creating the account, and your chosen RRB, can never be changed.
Do I get a free railway pass for the exam?
SC and ST candidates who select the option in their application do. The free sleeper-class travel authority comes with the city intimation slip, and you must carry the original caste certificate and photo ID while travelling.
