Eligibility

  • All 132 posts fall under the Director General, Deendayal Upadhyay State Institute of Rural Development, Bakshi ka Talab, Lucknow, and all are permanent.
  • Pay is Level-6 of the pay matrix — minimum ₹35,400 and maximum ₹1,12,400 — for every one of the thirteen disciplines.
  • Only candidates who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test 2025 and to whom UPSSSC issued a PET-2025 score card may apply.
  • Shortlisting for the mains examination is on merit of the normalised PET-2025 score.
  • A candidate whose actual (absolute) or normalised PET-2025 score is zero, below zero or negative will not be shortlisted for the mains examination.
  • Candidates marked Under Investigation (UI) or Provisional in the PET 2025 result are allowed to apply provisionally, subject to the final decision of the Commission in their case.
  • The essential qualification must be held by the last date of application, 5 October 2026 — acquiring it later does not count.
  • For the Agricultural Engineering post the essential qualification is a bachelor degree in agricultural engineering with at least 50% marks; each of the other twelve disciplines carries its own essential qualification, set out post by post in section 6 of the advertisement.
  • EWS candidates need an EWS certificate issued between 1 April 2026 and 5 October 2026, based on financial year 2025-26 income and valid for 2026-27, in the format prescribed by the State Government.
  • Uttar Pradesh women candidates are placed in the category they belong to, and only a caste certificate issued from the father side is accepted.
  • Post preference is exercised at the document-verification stage, not now; the Commission allots posts taking availability, merit, the qualification for the post and the age limit into account, and its decision is final.
  • Only one application is to be made for the advertised posts.
  • Selection is on the written examination alone — one paper of 100 objective multiple-choice questions, 100 marks, two hours.
  • Negative marking applies at 25 per cent — one quarter of the mark carried by the question — for every wrong answer.
  • Paper structure: Rural development subject knowledge 50 questions and 50 marks; analytical ability and data interpretation 15 questions and 15 marks; computer and information technology concepts with current developments 15 questions and 15 marks; general knowledge of Uttar Pradesh 20 questions and 20 marks.

  8. The correction window runs to 12 October 2026; permitted details in the submitted application can be changed in that period.
  9. Download and print the submitted application form and keep it — UPSSSC can ask for it at document verification.
  10. If shortlisted, pay the separate mains examination fee before trying to download the mains admit card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply without having sat PET 2025?

No. The advertisement admits only candidates who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test 2025 and were issued a PET-2025 score card by the Commission.

My PET 2025 score was negative. Can I still apply?

You would not be shortlisted. The advertisement says candidates with a zero, below-zero or negative absolute or normalised PET-2025 score are not shortlisted for the mains examination.

How much is the application fee?

₹25 for every category — that is the online process fee, and the application fee itself is nil. The mains examination fee is charged separately and only to shortlisted candidates.

What is the age limit?

21 to 40 years as on 1 July 2026, with upper-age relaxation for SC, ST and other categories notified by the State Government.

Is there negative marking?

Yes. A quarter of the marks carried by a question — 25 per cent — is deducted for each wrong answer in the 100-question paper.

When can I correct a mistake in my form?

Up to 12 October 2026. The same date is also the deadline for fee reconciliation, which is a week after the 5 October application deadline.

How are posts allotted across the thirteen disciplines?

You give your preference at document verification, and the Commission allots posts taking availability, merit, the qualification for the post and the age limit into account. Its decision is final.
